Executive Editor - Samuel Miller

Samuel Miller, Ph.D., is a microbiologist whose research focuses on the cultivation and characterization of anaerobic and previously uncultured microorganisms from complex environments. He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology under the mentorship of Dr. Paul A. Lawson at the University of Oklahoma and is now a postdoctoral researcher and senior scientist in the Microbiomics and Culturomics Core Facility at Oklahoma State University under the supervision of Dr. Mostafa S. Elshahed. His research focuses on combining classical microbial cultivation approaches with modern molecular techniques to better understand microbial diversity and the ecological roles of microorganisms that have yet-to-be-cultivated. Outside the lab, he is a co-host of the Life Unculturable podcast, where he regularly discusses anaerobic microbiology, pursues scientific curiosity, and shares stories behind life in the lab.
